Payments service Square Inc. has announced it will rebrand to Block in an apparent reference to blockchain. The rebrand will bring together Cash App, decentralized exchange tbDEX and streaming platform Tidal.
“Block is a new name, but our purpose of economic empowerment remains the same,” said CEO Jack Dorsey. “No matter how we grow or change, we will continue to build tools to help increase access to the economy.”
Meta has announced that Facebook and Instagram will allow more cryptocurrency companies to run advertisements citing an increase in recognized regulatory licenses from 3 to 27. According to the new regulatory licenses, cryptocurrency exchanges and trading platforms, cryptocurrency lending and borrowing services, cryptocurrency wallets, cryptocurrency mining infrastructure, crypto news, and blockchain technology services will be allowed to advertise.
A federal jury in the Kleiman v. Wright case said jurors are unable to agree on a verdict about the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. “Unfortunately, we cannot come to a conclusion and we cannot all agree on a verdict on any of the questions,” the jury wrote in a note passed to Judge Beth Bloom at 10:47 a.m. ET.
If a verdict cannot be agreed upon, a mistrial could be declared.
Food delivery platform Grubhub has partnered with Lolli to offer users a chance to earn Bitcoin back on purchases. Grubhub customers will be able to earn $1 in Bitcoin rewards each time they used the Lolli extension or app.
“We must make Bitcoin a part of everyday life,” said Lolli co-founder and CEO Alex Adelman. “Food delivery is a ritual for many and Bitcoin rewards makes Bitcoin a part of that ritual.”
Exchanges FTX, Crypto.com and Coinbase are working toward Bitcoin Futures Trading. Through recent acquisitions of companies with U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission licenses, FTX and Crypto.com plan to offer derivatives and futures products. Coinbase has attempted to join the party by registering as a futures commission merchant with the National Futures Association.
