Paypal confirms plans to explore launching a stablecoin. Developer Steve Moser first discovered the source code for a stablecoin in Paypalβs iPhone app. Moserβs finding uncovered a stablecoin backed by the U.S. dollar called PayPal Coin. PayPal first launched features to allow users to buy, hold and pay with cryptocurrency in 2020.
Crypto exchange LCX has confirmed one of its hot wallets has been compromised. Soon after the incident, they assured users they had taken security measures to protect other wallets and assets. Approximately $7.94M worth of crypto assets were stolen from the platform. To reduce damages, LCX has paused deposit and withdrawal functionality.
Norton Antivirus is taking heat for adding crypto mining software to its Norton 360 security suite. Originally, crypto mining was offered to a limited number of users, but now it is available to anyone who installs the program. Users have expressed general frustration when learning that Norton has installed crypto mining software on their computers.
Sarcophagus raises $5.47 million by selling SARCO tokens to VCs. Sarcophagus is a βdead manβs switchβ dApp that allows users to set instructions to be carried out if a user is incapicatated. The Sarcophagus protocol gives users a series of actions to verify they are alive, if actions are not performed a deadmanβs switch is triggered. Currently the protocol executes contracts on Ethereum and places the data on Arweave.
